The 55,000 Word Talking Spelling Bee. This pocket-sized computer recreates the excitement of the official National Spelling Bee. It articulates each word, provides a definition of almost 55,000 words from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, and uses each word in context with recorded speech. Each letter is voiced and displayed on the device's 2" color LCD as it is entered from the keyboard; a correct spelling is met with applause, while an incorrect response results in a reminder of the correct spelling. Three skill levels can be adjusted between Beginner, Advanced and Master, and custom word lists can be entered to provide an additional challenge. It also includes word games such as Word Train and Hangman for less intense spelling practice. The device connects to a TV with the included AV cable for tournaments with up to six players, and has an SD memory card slot and USB port to download additional games from the manufacturer's website. Includes a headphone jack for quiet play. Requires three AAA batteries. Ages 8 and up. 41/2 L x 21/2 W x 1 D. (1/4 lbs.)
