This study examined the effects of sexual imagery in music videos in regards to Black women. The research examined how music videos effect Black women's ethical values in the social settings of nightclubs where videos are played. It utilized interpretive qualitative methodologies including, ethnoperformance. The study used the theoretical lens of the arousal extremity model. This model posits that when the priming effect of music videos is used in conjunction with physical stimulation, the viewer will take on the ethical values portrayed in the music videos. The field notes and life story interviews conducted during the study revealed behavioral patterns that the model posits primarily in White women but not in Black women. Black women observed in the study revealed imitation patterns on the dance floor only but not socially when interacting with people off the dance floor.
