Pros: Intelligent and witty dialogue; interesting characters and varied plots.
Cons: The middle portion of the season drags a little; a few episodes are painfully unsubtle.
The Bottom Line: The first season of "Angel" can't quite match "Buffy", but is still must-see TV for fans of its parent show, or for people looking for a thoughtful, episodic series.
