Arts of Diplomacy : Lewis and Clark's Indian Collection

In a volume co-published with the Peabody Museum of Archeology and Ethnology at Harvard University, curator McLaughlin, other museum staff, and Indian contributors interpret the encounters between the Corps of Discovery and Native peoples as ones of mutual discovery. To document the artifacts in their premier Lewis & Clark collection, they trace the history (and route) of the expedition and collection, and describe the diverse items and artists represented in many fine color illustrations.
