Beautiful Eyeshadow Palettes
You can buy a single
eyeshadow, which is perfect if you just need a highlighter for your upper eyelids, or you can enjoy the art of beauty everytime you purchase an eyeshadow palette. From simple duos to sets with multiple colors, quite frankly, these products are fun to buy and even more fun to use as you discover which colors work best blended with each other, and which are better as contrasting colors for a dramatic effect.
A smart palette will work as a unit, with each shade complementing the others well, such as a palette of peaches and browns, or perhaps lilac and gray.
Guerlain has done an excellent job with their palette, usually offering four colors that work wonderfully with each other and including a matte, a sparkle or shimmer, and a pearly finish.
Kevyn Aucoin puts together five-shadow sets, with one brighter color as a centerpiece plus other shadows and highlights for incredible blending options. We do think "the more, the merrier" with these, and
Bobbi Brown's seven-shadow palettes offer a lot of opportunity to play. This set includes a high-quality two-sided
makeup brush to apply the shadows in quick sweeps or thin, precise lines.
If you're looking for something with more contrast, we suggest a Focus quad of shadows, which match each other very well once you've played with the combinations. Shiseido provides a similar line, although their contrasting eyeshadows really do look like an artist's palette, each shade saturated with gorgeous color, and the applicators included provide a number of different ways to blend and smooth these rich tones into lovely, silky effects.
