How to Buy Eau de ParfumsIf you're shopping for perfumes and confused by all of the different types of perfumes, take note: you're not alone. The differences between eau de parfum, eau de toilette, eau de cologne, and parfum all have to do with the amount of actual essential oils in each type. Eau de Parfum in particular has about 15% perfume concentrate in it, making it more pure than an eau de toilette (and therefore more expensive too).
Eau de Parfum literally means perfume water in French, an apt description as it is basically pure perfume mixed with some water and perhaps a small amount of alcohol.
Want the best of the best? Then consider the unique bottles and scents from Bond No. 9(which are like works of art) or the Private Blend by Tom Ford - they make fantastic gifts and come in a variety of pure, natural scents. If you only want to splurge just a bit on your eau de parfum, then consider Marc Jacobs by Marc Jacobs or Gucci by Gucci. Clinique is also a popular and more affordable option with their Happy and Heart fragrances, which come in great travel size roll-ons too. Victoria's Secret has a great line of affordable eau de parfums including their Dream Angels and Very Sexy types. Men have many options for great eau de parfums as well: Tom Ford, Bond No. 9, Boucheron, Guerlain, and Lalique all make excellent eau de parfums.
