Gov't Mule Bergen Performing Arts Center Englewood, NJ 07.23.08 After two restful and well deserved days off, the traveling circus that is Gov't Mule landed at the Bergen Performing Arts Center and delivered a top shelf show. With Slackjaw Jezebel as the opener, this gig got off to a full tilt boogie with I Think You Know What I Mean in the second slot. Danny fired up Enpty Pages and the band teased the crowd with a She's So Heavy tease tacked on the end of Monkey Hill. Mid set rocked with Time To Confess and No Need To Suffer, but the last three were a real treat. At the opening of The Letter, Jimmy Vivino was seen behind the Hammond with Danny, but he then took his normal position with guitar slung around his neck for the the set closers Don't Let It Bring You Down and a brilliant Masters Of War-> Rockin' In The Free World. With a wicked set one in the bag, set two had quite a lot to live up to. Unring The Bell instantly showed that the band had stepped it up and would not rest on their laurels. Bad Little Doggie was dominating and Far Away was beautiful and haunting, but Thirty Days In The Hole picked the pace up again and rolled fright in to Drums. Warren's guitar work on New World Blues was dazzling and the combo of Banks Of The Deep End and Mule-> Who Do You Love?-> Mule to end the set left all breathless. Jimmy Vivino returned with the band to deliver It's My Own Fault and I Can't Hold Out as the double barrelled encore. ART COMING 7/29/09! What's the difference between FLAC and MP3?
