The label should read UV 400 or 100% UV protection. Also consider what activity you will be using sunglasses for because there are specific sunglasses for specific sports. Sometimes, sport and fashion sunglasses blend together and can be worn anytime, anywhere. For example, Ray-Ban offers sunglasses that can be used for sport and are very fashionable. Their infamous Wayfarers have made a comeback and were once very popular for sand volleyball players to wear in neon colors. Considering face shape is important when selecting a pair of sunglasses. There are a few general face shapes: square, oval, round, and heart. A square face needs a pair of sunglasses that are rounded and aren't as wide as the widest part of the face. Many shield type sunglasses and aviator styles are good for this face shape. Prada and Gucci make a wide selection of rounded styles.

Oval face shapes can wear pretty much any style because the face is proportioned. Oversized sunglasses are en vogue and oval face shapes can wear them easily. Versace and Tom Ford among many other brands carry oversized sunglasses.

Round face shapes need frames with angular lines to sharpen and add definition. The Ray-Ban Wayfarers are a good choice for round face shapes. Christian Dior makes oversized square sunglasses with angular edges for more definition and are very chic. Burberry also makes very angular shaped sunglasses that fit round face shapes.

Heart face shapes need frames that have thick edges but aren't very wide to balance the cheekbones to the narrow or pointed chin. Chanel makes the perfect sunglasses for this face shape. Their classic tortoise shell frames or honey colored frames fit the heart shaped face like a glove.

Finding the right pair of sunglasses can be difficult because of all the choices, but if you know your face shape, how much you're willing to spend and what you like, you will have no problems finding that perfect pair.
