Work Shorts

Sometimes our line of work allows us to wear shorts, especially during the warmer months of the year. Occupations like park rangers, conservationists, construction workers, carpenters and other jobs where most of the work is outdoors allow people to wear work shorts. The durability of the fabric is still there, just in a short version. Many times the color of work shorts don't vary much due to uniform restrictions. Work shorts come in different shades of khaki or brown, grey, black and blue. The fit is usually a straighter cut, the hem hits right at the knee, they have hip pockets and either a clasp or button closure.

Dickies makes a short version of their work pant. The fabric is a cotton twill for more durability, straighter leg and comes in grey, khaki, black and blue. Their shorts are tough and rugged so you can smear oil on them, use them to wipe your hands, drill or any other work activity that requires you to be outdoors.

The famous skateboarding brand, Vans appeals to the working public with their versions of work shorts. Maybe because so many skateboarders work outdoors? Possibly. They are actually made by Red Kap, a working clothing line developed for railroad workers in 1923. Today Red Kap has teamed up with Vans to produce a work short version.

Carhartt is another work clothing line that is famous for their canvas clothing. They make work shorts out of their mustard brown canvas with reinforced back pockets, a rugged zipper and durable side seam belt loops. Every pair of work shorts has a left leg hammer loop and a ruler pocket while the right leg has a utility bad and a pocket for a cell phone or tools.
