Product Info
Florence's Little Bacchus Statue - Medium By Valerio Cioli (1529-1599), Boboli Gardens, Florence Travelers rarely leave Florence without a statue of Little Bacchus, one of the city's most beloved symbols. Those who trust in local tradition and wish to ensure good luck and safe passage never leave without visiting the real thing to rub his tummy. The original 16th-century sculpture by Cioli is a humorous portrait of Morgante, one of the dwarves of Duke Cosimo de Medici's court. Morgante's charmingly rotund figure resembles that of Bacchus (hence the name), but here he sits on a tortoise instead of a wine barrel. Cast in bonded Carrara marble, our exclusive replica is imported from Italy and is mounted on a solid marble base.
Medium: 4½"Wx5"Dx9½"H.
