How to Buy the Best Bed Skirts

Bedskirts, also known as dust skirts, valances or dust ruffles, provide two different benefits to the edges of your bed. They are intended for keeping dust from gathering beneath your bed, but usually, they're decorative accents which fit between the mattresses and hang to the floor. They can also have a hidden purpose -- specifically, hiding whatever you're storing under your bed to create a clean and finished look.
Waterford brings several surprises to this bedding accessory with opulent fabrics and a variety of stitching details, including tailored edges, pleats, quilted panels, and simple gathered ruffles. Thicker-than-usual fabrics allows these bedskirts to do what they were originally designed to do -- prevent dust and dirt from gathering beneath your bed.
Fashion designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Nautica have also gotten into the bedding and linens departments, and left beautiful marks with decadently decorative fabrics in dust ruffles that complement their plush comforters.
We also like Highland Feather bedskirts, which use the same fabrics you'd find in your sheet sets, so these are easily washed, require no ironing, and can be placed right back on the bed after they're dried. While they usually have a lower thread count than the rest of a sheet set, since you're not sleeping on the dust ruffle, this is a good opportunity to save money.
