How to Buy Fondue Pots and Sets

Everyone loves melted cheese, but not everyone loves paying an boatload for fondue at a restaurant - that's why it's worth it to invest in your own fondue pot. For just a fraction of the price, you can purchase a good quality fondue pot and make fondue in the convenience of your own home. Most sets come with everything you need.
There are many different type of fondue sets around, so the first thing to think about is what type of fondue are you planning to cook. If you're primarily making a cheese fondue versus a chocolate fondue, you'll need one that is designed to melt cheese. You'll also need to consider whether you want an electric fondue pot or one that uses fuel. Dessert fondue sets can sometimes even use candles to heat the chocolate, but candles are not appropriate for cheese fondue and meat fondue.
Rival offers some great electric fondue sets that are easy to use, and you won't have to worry so much about setting anything on fire, but most fondue purists will recommend a pot that requires fuel. Not to worry-there are easy-to-use gels that work the same way oils do, and are considerably safer.
You'll find ceramic fondue pots, stainless steel fondue pots, cast iron fondue pots, and copper. Le Creuset, All-Clad, and Emile Henry have a fantastic assortment of fondue sets for any type of fondue. At a lower price point, check out fondue pots from Rachael Ray, Oster, and Staub. With any fondue set you purchase, make sure to read the instructions very carefully, as they each might differ depending on what they are made of and what type of fuel you are using.
