Fashion Flatware for Dining Pleasures

How many flatware sets do you own? If you are a kitchen fashionista, your probably believe that you can never have enough flatware sets and you're always on the lookout for some new and exciting flatware to frame your table settings. Or, does your flatware collection need an overhaul? In any case, here are some tips to make selecting new flatware easier and, hopefully, fun.
First, our best piece of advice is to look for flatware sets that come with warranties, preferably many-year or lifetime warranties. The warranty is your best test for quality. For example, purchasing a top Oneida line comes with a lifetime warranty when you join their Forever Program. That is, you get an automatic lifetime guarantee on your flatware. Plus, if for any reason the pattern is discontinued or retired, you'll have five years after the retirement to purchase additional pieces. AND, after the retired pattern is no longer available, you can return to Oneida the pieces of your enrolled pattern and trade up to a comparable current pattern. You just pay to ship your old set to Oneida, but they will replace the set and ship it to you free. So, it's very much worth investing in quality from the beginning.
Will you choose a flatware set that is sterling silver or stainless steel, gold plated or silver plated? Or, do you want the handles of your flatware set to be ceramic, porcelain, pewter, wood or plastic? Before you buy, just remember that flatware sets with handles of different materials are versatile as decor but may not be really durable and won't stand up to long-term use and your dishwasher. On the other hand, a more durable synthetic material for handles will cost you a premium. So choose carefully and wisely.
If you're looking for a grandly ornate and dazzling flatware set, you might want to check out the Kirk Stieff Respousse line as well as Capella Sand by Cambridge, Gourmet Basics by Mikasa, Chantilly sterling silver by Gorham, and the flatware sets by Lenox and William Sonoma. Oneida also offers sets with bright or mirror-like, satin matte, two-toned or the 24K gold electroplate over stainless finish.
Overall, the type of flatware set you choose will be up to your own personal taste. Find something that fits the style of your table service and linens, whether they are traditional, classic, or contemporary, you should find cutlery that matches the aesthetic you've already created. And make sure your new cutlery has a nice storing or display box to protect it from scratches too!
