How to Choose Centerpiece Bowls & Serving Pieces

How are you dressing up your dining table? Between the formal place mats, cloth napkins, and crystal or porcelain serveware, do you have a centerpiece? If not, or if you'd like a better selection to choose from during the holidays, you've come to the right place. Preferences range from lead crystal centerpiece bowls to silver-plated centerpiece trays, with quite a lot in between.
If crystal brings sparkle to your table, we recommend Gorham and Mikasa centerpiece bowls for delicately cut full-lead crystal. Mikasa also offers platters and trays in a variety of beautiful designs. You can't forget to check Waterford as well, which has footed centerpiece bowls for a touch of grandeur. Godinger is another excellent choice which offers footed bowls, often with frosted crystal accents.
Reed & Barton has a bit of everything, including lead crystal bowls with deeply cut facets to brilliantly reflect the light. Also consider their silver-plated centerpieces which double as buffet servers, like the closeable seashell that opens into a double bowl for over two feet of serveware. This can also be treated as a decorative accent, filled with flowers or floating candles.
Arthur Court centerpiece trays look like silver plate but are made of a premium aluminum alloy, so they won't rust or tarnish. Elaborate ornamental details and themed motifs make this a lovely choice for a lower price. You'll find more modern options from Alessi with several abstract designs made from stainless steel; these need to be seen to be believe, as shapes appear to be suspended in midair.
For a very traditional look, try Lenox fine china with 24k gold accents, perfect for special holiday presentations. Or check out Pfaltzgraff centerpiece bowls made from earthenware or porcelain, both dishwasher-safe but very decadent with embossed details or dramatic, colorful patterns.
