How to Buy a Coffee Grinder

The smell of freshly brewed coffee can wake up the senses even for a non-coffee drinker. The smell and taste of freshly ground coffee is so much better than its already ground counterpart that you will never go back. For a coffee lover, a coffee grinder is a necessity. Some have one setting for drip-coffee and some have a finer setting for cappuccino. Coffee grinders vary in price, all depending on what you want in a coffee grinder and whether they use metal blades or burrs. Metal blades give you less control over how fine you want the grounds.
There are many Italian brands that offer the freshness from a real coffee barista. Brands like Rancilio, Pasquini, Capresso, Gaggia and Ascaso all have the Italian names and they mostly do the same thing with different capacities. Some have 30 different settings for fineness and some have one. The higher priced versions like Pasquini have several settings for your coffee type preference.
Baratza and La Pavoni are also good Italian brands that grind coffee well for that top-notch brew. Depending on what type of coffee maker you have, a good grinder should match. Also, a powerful grinder will last you longer but you will have to spend a little more. Italian brands will have more of a variety of motor power and settings for the best coffee experience.
Other brands that carry more basic models of grinders but are best for drip-coffee makers are Krups, Cecilware and Cuisinart.
So if you like finer grounded coffee, look to a coffee grinder with multiple settings. If you drink the same kind of coffee every day and it doesn't matter to you how fine the grounds are, look to a more basic model. But if you use your grinder every day, buy a grinder with burrs to make it last longer.
