For griddle style grills, look to Presto, Rival and Cecilware indoor grills. Presto's are large enough to feed a big group and can be used for breakfast feasts. These open grill models are great for barbequing too and all are very reasonably priced.
For a contact unit that can heat from the top and the bottom there is a wide selection of flip top and hover style grills. Hamilton Beach, West Bend and Cuisinart all make contact unit models that grill food fast and evenly. The hover style grills are like a mix of a contact unit and an open grill. Some have a smooth and ridged plate for more versatility. The hover lid is hinged to the sides of the grill so that it can hover over the bottom grill rather than flip open like most contact units. This helps to make large burgers or steaks without smashing them. The plates are usually removable for easy cleaning.
For the famous grill master, George Foreman makes several indoor grills that are just as good as their outdoor predecessors. He has open and contact grills that are easy to use and clean.
Additional brands that make comparable indoor grills are Salton and Proctor Silex. For commercial sizes of indoor grills, look to Star for open large area grills that are great for small restaurants or commercial kitchens.
So you can have that delicious burger in the middle of winter or succulent grilled fish with rice pilaf for a nice dinner meal, all made indoors with your convenient indoor grill.
