The proposed study will discuss the roles of mentoring in the lives of selected opera singers using personal interviews with Marilyn Horne, Renee Fleming, Carol Vaness, and Leona Mitchell. This is a narrative study involving in-depth interviews with professional opera singers, which supplies information that can have a major impact on careers of young singers.;This study consists of the discussion of the roles and responsibilities of mentoring, provides a definition for mentoring, discusses the seasons of mentoring, and guides singers and voice teachers who are interested in taking on the roles of a mentor and protege by helping them become deliberate, focused, and better equipped to begin such a mentorship. An analysis of interviews with opera singers Marilyn Horne, Renee Fleming, Carol Vaness, and Leona Mitchell shows similarities between the ideas of the singers, providing their valuable opinions to motivate young artists in their search for the right training and to teach the protocol of the opera business in order to help young singers avoid unnecessary adversities.
