Los Angeles music DJ Nic Harcourt is a British transplant who got his first break in radio working at a small Woodstock station. Throughout the 1990s he built a reputation as a reliable guide through the treacherous shoals of contemporary pop music, introducing his listeners to a sundry selection of artists under-represented in the music industry charts, including Sigur Ros, Beth Orton, Bebel Gilberto, and Mercury Rev. Harcourt's compendium of recommended listening, MUSIC LUST, collects the main works of these and other performers without whom, in Harcourt's opinion, any education in contemporary music is incomplete.
