Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (CD)

Album Notes
Miscellaneous
Composer: Hans Zimmer.

For the second PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN film, director Gore Verbinski breaks out the big guns, both visually and sonically, bolstering the adventure movie's sound with a bold orchestral score by veteran composer Hans Zimmer. The opening track, "Jack Sparrow," captures the essence of the dynamic character (given a gleeful eccentricity on screen by Johnny Depp), moving from a lighthearted intro to vibrant string passages that evoke Sparrow's swashbuckling side, while "The Kraken" revels in a deeply ominous atmosphere. The album closes, oddly enough, with a propulsive techno remix of "He's a Pirate" by renowned electronica artist Tiesto.

Lookout Zimmer; I'm sending the Kraken after you!
by teenwriter, 9/23/2006

Pros: "The Wheel of Fortune"
Cons: The so-called action music, especially "The Kraken" remix.
The Bottom Line: Zimmer's musical genius is in no way exemplified here. Apparently he expended all his creative genius on his last effort "The Da Vinci Code", which was FAR superior.
Review: After listening to the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest soundtrack I have experienced perh …

Pros: The rum is BACK.
Cons: I'm going to OD on this CD (so be ready with 911)
The Bottom Line: If you like soundtracks at all, you have to buy this. You have to.
Review: I was ready to give Klaus Badelt his due credit. I can pinpoint the exact moment in the movie when I …
