Lifenol® Hop Extract (Humulus lupulus) 85 mg
Lifenol hop extract is a patented extract of hops. This specific extract is unique because it contains prenylflavonoids, including 8-prenylnaringenin (8-PN), a very active phytoestrogen. Published studies have revealed a strong link between the estrogenic activity of hops and their 8-PN activity.
Lifenol’s unique profile has been shown to have positive effects on mild menopausal concerns, especially hot flashes and night sweats. Clinical studies show significant reductions in the number of hot flashes, as well as an improved quality of life in menopausal women. Women supplemented with hops extract showed decreases in total menopausal discomforts, including a decrease in the number of hot flashes and night sweats.
Researchers believe that it is through 8-PN’s activity of binding to alpha- and beta-estrogen receptors that hops extract exerts much of its action in regards to menopausal issues.*
Maca Root (Lepidium meyenii) 250 mg
Maca is a Peruvian plant resembling a radish and has an odor similar to butterscotch. It has been cultivated as a vegetable crop in the Andes mountains for at least 3,000 years. The applicable part of maca is the root and its constituents include sterols, minerals, lipids and others.
Researchers believe maca works as an adaptogenic herb and helps modulate the body’s response to stress. Clinical trials specifically demonstrate effects for maintaining energy, decreasing stress and relieving discomfort associated with menopause.
Maca also helps provide support for menopause by helping stabilize mood. As a member of the broccoli family, maca also contains glucosinolates, which may work to support cellular health.*
