HOW TO PLAY
The object of the game is to hit the ball through the QOLF frame arches with a minimum amount of strokes. Earn bonus points by hitting the ball through the QOLF frame hole. Takes only about 30 minutes to play a complete round with up to 4 players.
• Step 1 - Layout your QOLF course
Set out your course using the QOLF frames included in your game set. Additional frames can be purchase by calling 888-426-6348 or visiting the QOLF shop at www.QOLF.com. The QOLF frame has the par and bonus value marked on it, which must be taken into account when the players design the layout of the course. Natural hazards and obstacles can be incorporated into the course lay-out to make it more challenging and interesting.
Orange Frame – Par 3 Bonus 1
Blue Frame – Par 4 Bonus 2
Red Frame – Par 5 Bonus 3
Frame Distance Recommendations
Par 3 = minimum of 12 paces
Par 4 = minimum of 15 paces
Par 5 = minimum of 20 paces
These are the minimum layout recommendations and players who become more skilled and advanced at QOLF can regulate the distance and obstacles accordingly, to create a more challenging course.
• Step 2 - Start the game
Once the course is laid out, players determine who tees off first. Each player will choose a color QOLF ball from yellow, blue, orange or red and tee off. Once all the players have played their first shot, the player furthest away from the frame plays first and the player closest to the frame plays last. In the case of a player’s ball obstructing play, the player shall mark their ball with a coin or any other object and allow the other players to play through. The object is to pitch the ball through the QOLF frame (hole or arch) in the minimum number of strokes. The frame can played form any direction. On any shot, players may place their ball within 6 inches of its original position, provided that the ball is not placed closer to or at a more favorable angle to the QOLF hole.
• Step 3 – Bonus Points
In the event of a player’s ball being hit though the QOLF hole, the player gets the bonus points indicated on the frame. The bonus points are subtracted from the gross score on each hole. A ball going through the hole in the QOLF frame is called a QOLF. If you have fallen behind your fellow playing partners you can see how the Bonus Points can help you catch up. Once all players have completed the first frame, the next tee of is located approximately 1 yard or more behind the frame that has just been completed.
Other Cool QOLF Games To Play
QOLF Zone Set – 1 Frame Game
QOLF Zone one frame game is the ideal vehicle to enhance your chipping and pitching skills. It is challenging and great fun for the individual and for the whole family. QOLF Zone One Frame games are derivatives of the broader QOLF 3 Frame Game and are played using a Zone rope, simulating a ‘green’ area in which each player has a minimum of 3 balls each of a different color to pitch at the QOLF Frame, positioned within the QOLF Zone.
There are 4 QOLF ‘Zone’ game combinations to fit in a small space format to big space i.e. from your back garden to a school field. These game formats include Match Zone, Target Zone, Risk Zone and Wild Zone.
General QOLF Zone Rules
All games are played by 1 or more people with a
maximum of 4 players. Each player will choose 2 of the same color QOLF balls from yellow, blue, orange or red included in the set. Before play, players designate Out–of–bounds areas e.g. flower beds or driveways and Water hazards e.g. swimming pools. Any ball coming to rest in or on any of the out-of-bounds hazards or water hazards is automatically out of play for the entire frame.
The game is started by flipping a coin, to determine who hits first. The team/player that wins the toss can design the shape of the QOLF zone and places the QOLF frame inside the QOLF zone, not closer than a club-length from the perimeter.
The team/player that wins the coin flip drops their balls no less than 10 yards from the perimeter of the zone, thus selecting the first-tee-off point. The team/player that wins each frame has the opportunity to place the QOLF frame and select the tee-off point for the next frame (in the manner prescribed above).
IN ANY GAME SHOULD THE BALL GO THROUGH THE QOLF HOLE OR THE QOLF ARCH ON THE FIRST SHOT, THEN 5 AND 3 POINTS RESPECTIVELY ARE AUTOMATICALLY SCORED.
The team/player that accumulates the most points wins the frame/game. In the event of a tie at the end of any frame, the team/player who had the tee-off honors on the previous frame maintains the tee-off honor.
• Match Zone
This game is illustrated in figure 1. The object of the game is for each player to pitch as many balls to finish in the QOLF zone as possible. For each ball in the QOLF zone, you will receive 1 point. You all play consecutive shots from your tee-off position. The amount of QOLF frames you play is up to you, the minimum number of frames played should be nine.
• Target Zone
The game is played in the same format as Match Zone, except that the scoring is calculated on a different basis. The player who has the most balls closest to the QOLF frame scores a point per ball. As in figure 2, the player playing with the red balls score 3 points.
• Risk Zone
The game is illustrated in figure 3 and is played in the same format as Match and Target Zone with different scoring rules. The players pitch their balls to the QOLF zone as played in Match and Target Zone. Balls landing in the zone each score 1 point. At this point the player now has the choice to take the point or try and pitch the balls through either the QOLF arch for 3 points or the QOLF hole for 5 points. By doing this, the player forfeits the 1 point in the chance that he/she may gain 3 or 5 points by successfully pitching the ball through the QOLF arch or QOLF hole.
• Wild Zone
This is played in the same format as Match and Target Zone but again scoring is different. The players pitch their balls to the QOLF zone as before. Balls ending in the zone each score 2 points, they now have the choice to take the points or try and pitch the ball through either the QOLF arch for 3 points or the QOLF hole for 5 points. By doing this, the player forfeits the 2 points in the chance that he/she may gain 3 or 5 points by successfully pitching the ball through the QOLF arch or QOLF hole. Balls outside the zone may be played a second time to try get the ball into the zone, through the QOLF arch or QOLF hole. However, the player must choose and delcare what they are aiming for. Points will only be scored if the declared option is achieved. Points scored for playing a second shot are: 1 point in the zone, 3 points through the QOLF arch and 5 points through the QOLF hole.
• QOLF Shoot-Out
In the event of a tie at the end of the game (e.g. after 9 frames), a 5 shot shoot-out will be used to decide the winner. The shoot-out is played with one ball per player and tee-off takes place approximately one yard away from the QOLF frame. When a ball is chipped through the QOLF hole, it is called QOLF. The player with most QOLF’s, wins the shoot-out. If after 5 shots each, the players are still tied, the shoot-out starts again.
