This Barracuda is a drive with a Fiber Channel - Arbitrated Loop (FC-AL) dual loop interface, making this Seagate hard drive ideal for high-performance storage, video, graphic, and mass data transfer applications.

This Barracuda Hard Drive has received Seagate's AV Professional stamp of approval, which means that Seagate has fine-tuned this drive to meet the requirements of today's most demanding audio/visual applications. It features embedded-servo technology to eliminate the need to perform periodic recalibrations, which slow down data transfer, making this drive ideal for AV applications. Embedded-servo technology gets rid of data interruptions that cause dropped frames in video applications. The Partial Response Maximum Likelihood (PRML) technology keeps data clear from background interference and allows Seagate disk drives to increase areal density (disk capacity), boost transfer speed, improve yield through the drive's ability to self-calibrate and lower disk noise. The Barracuda also features Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (SMART) to help prevent data loss and provide advance warning of drive failures.
