Heel height doesn't matter, and neither does style -- these can be casual or dress shoes, depending on the specifics in the design and the materials used. Don't confuse these with clogs, which are always casual and generally flat-heeled, with slightly upturned covered toes, quite a bit like walking sandals.
Classy and dressy, Lucchese offers a couple of clever styles that look a lot like ankle boots, mules which begin at the base of the ankles, use a tapered boot-like heel and finish in a pointed, closed toe. The Charlie Ones come in a faux snakeskin print or properly Western style with a unique leafy stitch pattern across the top. Seychelles gets a bit more playful with their Care to Dance "clogs", not really clogs at all, but a comfortable high-heeled mule in roan-brown with a wide, knotted strap decorating the front.
We like Donald J Pliner mules for their decorative patterns, such as the black-and-white Rona with thick red stitching to separate the contrasting colors and a red patent leather heel. Even more interesting and sure to bring compliments is their Juta mule, a very stylized western chic shoe with a leopard-print base and delicately cut red alligator-print leather trim around the top and toe.
J. Renee offers a lot of options, from two different Demi styles featuring crocodile embossing in several colors, a dashing look for special occasions, to the flatter Edlyn style with a flexible, comfortably padded sole, suede lining and a covered matching heel. We particularly like the deeply embossed pattern in the brown mule, although the glistening effect of the taupe and cognac colors are better-suited to most situations, adding a bit of sparkle without overwhelming the rest of your outfit.
