Choosing Cross-Training Shoes

Cross-training shoes are designed to support lateral (side-to-side) movements while exercising. This type of exercise can include aerobic classes or even weight lifting; any type of exercising involving lateral moves. Regular running shoes do not provide any stability to the ankle for any lateral motion. Only cross-training shoes can prevent injury because they provide multi-directional support with a wider outsole, which contributes to excellent stability for lateral motion.
Selecting cross-training shoes should be done with the help of an expert. If you are looking for women's cross training shoes or men's cross training shoes, there are several stores that provide personnel who possess the knowledge and expertise in providing the best cross-training shoes available. Some online stores also offer a variety of cross-training shoes, such as Adidas, Puma, Avia or Nike.
For the athlete who participates in a variety of sports, workouts and/or activities, cross-training shoes are the most economic choice. Cross-training shoes can be used for both indoor and outdoor sports. However, they should not be used for people who run regularly since they do not offer the needed flexibility and cushioning that regular running shoes offer. Cross-training shoes are heavier than running shoes and may help those who tend to roll their feet inward (pronate) while running or walking.
The multi-purpose outsoles of cross-training shoes are durable, made of either carbon rubber or a combination of blown rubber and carbon rubber. The bottom of the shoe is wide to help with stability in lateral motions. They also have low mid-soles. This design meets the basic comfort, durability, cushioning and stability requirements necessary for many sports and activities.
Since cross-training shoes are designed for high-impact, the cushioning is located primarily in the shoe's forefoot and heel. Either the lightweight cushioning EVA or the denser, more durable cushioning of polyurethane is used to enhance the shoes' stability.
