The first Kusmi Russian tea (also called "The Kousmichoff") was originally blended in 1867 in St. Petersbourg, Russia by Pavel Michailovitch Kousmichoff. The following decades saw his company grow and prosper until Kousmichoff Russian Tea became world famous. The Bolshevic Revolution caused the Kousmichoff company to flee Russia and move to France, where it operates today.

The firm remains the only genuine Russian tea firm and carries on as in former times, offering a wide variety of authentic Russian tea blends under the Kusmi Russian Tea line. Kusmi teas are available in both tins containing loose tea as well as in muslin tea bags.

This assortment is comprised of four varieties of tea bags: Prince Vladimir is a blend of Ceylon and China teas with scents of orange, lemon, vanilla, grapefruit and spices; Bouquet de Fleurs is a blend of China and Ceylon teas flavored with natural scents of bergamot, citrus fruits and flowers; Anastasia is a blend of China and Ceylon teas flavored with natural scents of bergamot, lemon and orange blossom; and Evening Russian is a blend of black China and India teas.
