Don't be put off by the publisher's positioning of this work as a "teen novel." This is excellent science fiction in the spirit of Logan's Run. Suzanne Collins is a fine writer and her story here is equal parts social commentary and contemporary adventure. The characters are well drawn and the dialogue is quite good. It was recently announced as a motion picture and I am betting it will be an excellent visual offering. I really enjoyed the read last summer and have passed the book along to several friends who also enjoyed it. |
