| International star Asia Argento portrays Anna Manni, a beautiful detective in pursuit of a savage serial killer-rapist who has been terrorizing Italy. When his trail leads Anna to Florence's famed Uffizi Museum, the investigation takes a violently psychotic turn. Anna is struck by the bizarre phenomenon known as the Stendhal Syndrome, a psychological reaction to artwork that forces Anna into a mysterious trance. An atmospheric horror film from longtime maestro Argento. |

| Chilling in it's best moments, boring in its worst....Argento's Stendhal Syndrome.

Pros: Some really startling, effective work from Kretschmann, good score, first half is well done
Cons: The second half is boring and the violence is definitely uncomfortable.
The Bottom Line: A brutal and interesting entry into Argento's body of work. Far from the level of his classic pieces but still worthy of a viewing if you are a fan.
Review: Almost five years ago I began my love affair (cinematically speaking) with Italian director Dario Ar

Pros: Mood, mood, and more mood. Treat for the eye
Cons: Dubbing/looping is odd, the screams are over the top
The Bottom Line: It struck me that the screams in the film are probably closer to what really happens when women are raped. This made a chilling film that much colder.
Review: The Stendhal Syndrome is a recognized reaction and was so prior to this movie. The syndrome mimics a

Pros: Typical Argento genius; decent shocks and scares; acting is fairly good
Cons: Ending is predictable; not as visceral as some other Argento works
The Bottom Line: Thrilling camera work, a haunting musical score, and some effective cinematography. Argento at his almost best and highly recommended.
Review: Dario Argento. That is a name which is highly revered when and where conversations are held on
