| Designed by Kimora Lee Simmons, Baby Phat (that's Pretty, Hot and Tempting) is an urban fashion line of clothing, cell phone accessories, shoes, jewelry, and Baby Phat perfumes and other fragrances for women and girls. A sleek and curvy cat serves as the Baby Phat logo, accenting Baby Phat jeans and Baby Phat t-shirts as the first products from this hip-hop-friendly line. Everything began with a Phat Farm runway show, in which tiny t-shirts were used as a publicity tool. When the decision was made to move forward with this popular style in 1998, Kimora Lee Simmons was chosen as the designer for the new Baby Phat label. Married to Russell Simmons, who designs the Phat Farm brand, Kimona added a luxurious touch to urban fashions with her new line, including Baby Phat sleeveless dresses, Baby Phat leggings, Baby Phat wrap tops, Baby Phat casual skirts, and casual chic Baby Phat jackets. Kimora began as a model and had already firmly established herself in the industry by the time she was 13 years old, chosen by Karl Lagerfeld to represent Chanel. By sixteen she had become a hot property for nearly every designer runway, and her interest in fashion became far more personal, as she had a keen eye for business and a well-timed opportunity to stamp her unique tastes on modern, urban fashions. Originally a denim label, Baby Phat still uses their favorite fabric in the design of their clothing and shoes, including Baby Phat wedges and Baby Phat sandals, as well as in accessories like Baby Phat handbags and totes, although leather and suede and more unusual materials like sequins, cork and braided rope show that Kimora and Baby Phat is always at leading edge of fashion.
