| Earnest Sewn is a denim brand that is committed to product quality and style that is inspired by the Japanese beauty aesthetic, Wabi-Sabi (a Japanese term for beauty of things imperfect, modest, and unconventional), and the American denim past. The company started in 2004 with the name derived from the idea that every product is sewn in earnest. The company emphasizes workmanship and a commitment to authenticity. The company was created by Scott Morrison who made his start in the denim industry working for Mudd Jeans where he developed an idea for an American-made denim collection. His concept became Paper Denim & Cloth which quickly became one of the world's preeminent denim brands. He created Earnest Sewn five years later which uses specialized techniques to construct hearty and deconstructed Earnest Sewn jeans that are handcrafted to perfection. Every piece is produced by three people and monitored from start to finish in every stage of the creating process. One sewer completes the majority of one piece and after it is sewn, the wash process incorporates hand-drawn techniques to ensure that every pair is unique. The maker signs their name on every finished product to validate its authenticity and quality. Earnest Sewn not only creates denim pieces but also women's and men's Earnest Sewn tops, jackets, sweaters, button-up shirts, and dresses.
