| Fender Musical Instruments Corporation has become the leading manufacturer of Fender stringed instruments and Fender amplifiers, solid-body guitars like the Fender Stratocaster and the Fender Telecaster. Leonidas Leo Fender founded his business in California, 1946, as Fender's Radio Service. Gigging musicians flocked to Fender and its Jazz Bass as well as the Fender Bassman. The Stratocaster is the most famous Fender. With its specialized shape, weight and pickup configuration that the pros craved in their electric guitars. To this day, Fender remains the industry standard.
