Founded by Charles Cole in 1985, Five Ten is a family owned company dedicated to making the best Five Ten outdoor sports footwear on the market. After finishing his MBA at the University of Michigan, Cole spent some time at Yosemite rock climbing solo. After a slip descending El Capitan, he decided that climbers needed high-friction rubber on not only their climbing shoes, but on their walking shoes as well.
Using knowledge obtained from his engineering degree from the University of Southern California, he developed a revolutionary rubber formula with better friction and higher durability than anything on the market. This rubber helped climbers on every angle surface, allowing them to ascend routes previously unattainable since the soles actually stick better to the rocks. With the help of his parents, Five Ten was born in 1986.
Five Ten is located in Redlands, California, making shoes with Stealth rubber for a number of outdoor sports: downhill Five Ten mountain biking, Five Ten hiking, climbing, paddling and trail running. Durable, comfortable and technologically advanced, Five Ten climbing shoes are worn by the world's top rock climbers. In fact, climbers paid to wear other brands of shoes, resole these shoes using Five Ten's rubber resole kits, accounting for 99.9% of resole sales worldwide.
