| Gianni Versace was the epitome of a good Italian boy. He learned from his mother to cut and make clothes, she ran a tailor shop. Soon, Gianni was designing clothes on his own and selling them from his mother's shop. He worked his way up, working as a fabric buyer and then designing his first prêt-a-porter collections. The very first Versace boutique opened in Milan's Via della Spiga in 1978, where Gianni sold his own designs alongside other labels. It wasn't long before his designs were surpassing all other labels in his shop. Soon, Versace was its own distinct look that was flourishing and soon spread to boutiques around the world. The glamour of Versace was immeasurable; it soon became his personal calling card. Gianni Versace, sometimes referred to as Versace is an Italian fashion label. Versace is an international fashion house that creates high end, many times handmade apparel, Versace perfumes and more. Versace continued to grow as its own label and it added new collections every season. Gianni had an interesting way of designing; he would vaguely sketch out his incredible designs and ideas and then trust his assistants to make the ideas more wearable. The Versace name carved out a niche infamous for its sexy siren Versace dresses, this soon became his trademark. The sexuality of the lines was achieved only by his own innovative and cutting edge techniques to fuse non-traditional materials to his designs.
