About Gucci

There was no way to know that a Florentine dishwasher working at the Savoy would soon build the biggest company and the final name in luxury and power, Gucci. He would soon perfect a logo synonymous with wealth and cache. Guccio Gucci was a young transplant from Italy that fled to the United States when his hat-making company failed.

It was the wealthy and their need for the best in everything that truly inspired. He saved money to return home to Italy to build a family. Guccio expanded his leather working shop in Rome. He tirelessly worked to supply goods for the wealthy tourists who visited. Soon he made enough money to buy out his investor and partner. Today, the double G's are present on things like money clips, buckles, perfume, as well as travel one-pieces and formal business suits.

Gucci is not without scandal. In the 1980's, mismanagement of the Gucci image and resources almost bankrupted the company. When Guccio died, the sons took over and family feuds and the threat of hostile takeover and disgruntled employees followed. At the same time, this brand managed to perfect one of the most imposing and most world-recognized fashion houses. This was one that was adored by Grace Kelly and Jackie O. They even have a children's line set to launch soon.
