About Puma

In 1924, two brothers, Rudolf and Adolf Dassler founded the Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory in Herzogenaurach, Germany. Jesse Owens wore Dassler shoes in the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin and went on to win four gold metals wearing their shoes. In the years to follow, athletes wearing Dassler shoes won seven gold and five bronze medals as well as breaking two world and five Olympic records.

In 1948, Rudolf Dassler founded Puma and the business was divided between the brothers. That same year, Puma's first football boot called the Atom was introduced and several members of the West Germany national football (soccer) team wore Puma soccer shoes. In 1952, Puma developed a football (soccer) boot with screw in studs called the Super Atom. This helped create Puma's long and successful relationship with football (American soccer).

In the years following, Puma was worn by Pele and many successful football teams in many tournaments, tennis champions and track and field Olympians to go on to win international titles. In 1993, Jochen Zeitz was appointed CEO and restructured Puma into a sportlifestyle company to include Puma active wear, Puma handbags, Puma sneakers and much more.

In 2004, Puma supports and clothes Formula 1 racers with Puma jerseys, Puma sneakers, and Puma jackets. Puma also has made popular the Puma slip-on shoes, Puma beanies and Puma athletics wear.

Today, Puma is one of the largest sportswear companies in the world, boasting creativity, sustainability and peace as a foundation for all of the company's activities.
