About Reebok

Founded because athletes wanted to run faster, Joseph William Foster from the United Kingdom, made some of the first known running shoes with spikes in them in the 1890's. By 1895 he was making shoes by hand and before long started J.W. Foster and Sons, proudly making running shoes for Olympians.

In 1958, two of the founder's grandsons started a companion company called Reebok named after an African gazelle. In 1979, Reebok was introduced to the U.S market. By 1981, Reebok had sold over $1.5 million and grew dramatically after introducing the first athletic shoe for women in 1982 called the Freestyle. Reebok was said to help encourage the aerobics movement, women in sports and athletic footwear worn as street and casual wear.

Reebok has continued to support and design Reebok basketball shoes, Reebok tennis shoes, aerobics,Reebok NHL, Reebok golf shoes and Reebok bowling shoes and sportswear.

With all the sports Reebok is affiliated with, they also make a large line of sportswear and causal wear including Reebok sneakers, Reebok sweatshirts and hoodies, Reebok sport sandals, Reebok shorts, Reebok coats and jackets and Reebok tops and tees among many other varieties of shoes and clothing for street or sport.

Reebok continues to pave the way with new and innovative products to stay in shape, enhance performance and look great using new technology and marketing campaigns.
