| When asked about the company name, Doug Warbrick admitted that he'd written the words, Rip Curl Hot Dog on a surfboard he'd purchased in 1968. As Doug explained about the company he created with Brian Singer in 1969, Ripping was groovy; surfing the curl was groovy; we wanted to be groovy -- so that was it.
