| Edelman Shoe, Inc. is led by Sam and his wife Libby Edelman, who are the creative visionaries behind the brand and have worked together for more than 25 years, beginning with the very successful launch of the Esprit footwear business in 1983, followed by the Sam & Libby brand in 1987, the latter of which was sold in 1997. Sam has proven his expertise in the footwear industry, beginning in 1975 when he collaborated with his father to create the Horseshoes brand, which was licensed to Ralph Lauren. He also held an executive role at Candies, and was the co-founder for Kenneth Cole Productions. His namesake brand, Sam Edelman shoes, debuted in 2004 with the help of Brown Shoe Company, which also manages Buster Brown, Naturalizer, Franco Sarto, Via Spiga, and several other top names in the industry. His collections are well known for creative shaping and high quality materials, in which even the relatively casual Sam Edelman flats may feature a combination of leather textures, beaded embellishments, or quilted finishes. However, the creative elements become even more apparent with Sam Edelman boots, often covered with metal studs or buckles, and laces along the full length of the boot. The designer also doesn't rein in with Sam Edelman pumps; 4 to 5-inch spike heels, carefully balanced by 1 to 2-inch platforms, often decorated by studs and crystals -- not just over the vamps but on the platforms or down the heels, themselves.
