Wusthof has been a family business for seven generations since its creation in 1814. The Wusthof Chef's knifes sets are designed and manufactured in Solingen, Germany along with Wusthof knife blocks, cutting boards, kitchen tools, and scissors. What sets this company apart is the way their cutlery is created, with over 40 different steps along the product line and forging each knife from a single, solid piece of specially formulated steel alloy. Originally, all Wusthof knives were hand-forged to ensure superior quality, but today's state-of-the-art facilities employ the same standards of fine-tuning among Wusthof craftsmen at various points in a modern, more automated production process. The famous trident logo was patented in 1895 as a symbol of the company's drive for perfection in form and function. Wusthof makes over 120 styles of knives for the kitchen in four high-precision forged collections, including Wusthof boning and fillet knives, Wusthof steak knives and sets, and their top-rated chef's knives, of course. Wusthof is one of the oldest cutlery companies in modern production, and their reputation deservedly improves with time among home cooks and professional chefs, alike.
