Japanese designer clothing company Evisu was formally founded in 1991 in Osaka, Japan, and aims to create the perfect pair of Evisu jeans. The brand specializes in producing denim wear of the highest quality through intensive research, inventive concepts, and precise production.
The founder of the couture Asian label, Hidehiko Yamane, grew up as a tailor but possessed an absolute love for vintage jeans and a severe disappointment in mass-produced, contemporary denim wear. The designer was inspired to take matters into his own hands and start a business that would cater to the vintage soul in every one of his customers.
Yamane's ideas swept the nation of fashion-forward Japan, and quickly became one of the coolest and most respected names in hip denim wear on an international scale. Evisu now operates over 60 stores in Japan alone. In addition to its jeans collections, the brand also has a tailoring line, as well as fishing and golf collections. In 1999, it created a women's Evisu apparel line called Evisu Donna, to complete its development as a global sensation. The brand even holds a place in popular entertainment; it was mentioned in several rap songs by famous artists, giving it special street cred among the younger generation.
