Whether your holiday plans include going all out or being low key, your hair style for the holidays should reflect the true spirit of celebration-slightly different, done up a bit more than your usual 'do. Happily, this season's holiday hair trends are all about keeping it real. The easy, effortless styles transform a basic look to glam in less than twenty minutes. Now, that's a reason to celebrate well into the New Year.

HEADBANDER CHIC
Blame it on Gossip Girl, but headbands are front and center this season. They add a touch of elegance and ease, especially when you don't have loads of time to spend on your hair. What's more, a headband works with almost any style. Short, layered looks should go for an ultra-thin, decorative band, that doesn't overpower and will help layered pieces stay put, like the Tasha Feather Flower Headband. If you've got a medium to long length, you can opt for a wider version, like this Juicy Couture Metallic Headband

THE UPSIDE
The classic chignon is a pretty, effortless way to up your hair's glam factor, says Edward Tricomi, co-owner of the Warren Tricomi Salon in New York City. Pull hair into a tight ponytail, smoothing away any bumps or loose ends, and secure with a thin, elastic holder, like Intuition Blax Snag Free Hair Elastics Ponytail Holder. Then braid the ponytail, and twist it around in a circular, bun shape. Secure the ends with bobby pins, tucking them into the bun. Spritz on a light hairspray, like Dove Hairspray, Flexible Hold, to keep it all in place.

WAVY WONDER
Getting the soft, romantic evening look of long, cascading waves is a lot easier than it looks, says Tricomi. Begin by misting dry hair with a heat-activated styling spray, like Biolage Thermal Active Setting Spray. Then, divide hair in sections, and wind tresses around large barrel hot rollers, such as Conair Jumbo Rollers, and keep on for ten minutes to accentuate waves. Take rollers out and gently smooth on pomade, like Oscar Blandi Tocco Finale Sculpting Pomade, to tame stray pieces and flyaways.

TWIST TACTICS
"A classic French twist is making a comeback, but the more modern way to wear it is a little messy, not so smoothed and coiffed," says Tricomi. To do it, your hair should be at least shoulder length. Grab strands as if you were pulling your hair into a ponytail, and hold to one side. Begin to roll it and secure with bobby pins as you tuck in the hair. Then spritz a volumizing spray, like Nick Chavez Beverly Hills Volumizing Extra Hold Spray, at roots for lift and hold.
